Trade between the European Union and the United States amounts to over $1 billion a day, results in the creation of jobs for roughly 6 million workers for both trading partners, and accounts for almost 40% of all trading activities around the world. In view of these statistics, it is crucial for US and European companies to ensure that they are in compliance with applicable US and EU international trade laws. Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. (ST&R), Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services (STTAS), and Hohmann & Partner Rechtsanwälte will be presenting a 2-hour webinar addressing the various legal and regulatory requirements for US exports to the EU, imports into the EU, and EU exports, including:
  • Overview of US export and reexport controls
  • Key elements of effective U.S. export compliance programs
  • The Obama Administration's National Export Initiative
  • EU main importing requirements
  • "Best practices" for EU import compliance programs
  • Exporting from the EU and intra-EU transfers
  • EU requirements for transit shipments and brokering
  • Principles of EU export compliance programs

Participants will have the opportunity to raise issues pertinent to their export and import activities by logging questions during the webinar. All questions will be answered at the end of the webinar, time permitting. If the presenter(s) cannot get to a question, they will answer you directly via email within 5 business days after the webinar has concluded.

This webinar will be presented by Melissa Miller Proctor, Esq., Tomasz Dziechciarz and Dr. Harald Hohmann. Ms. Proctor, a Member of ST&R and the firm's Export Practice Leader, is an accomplished international trade attorney who regularly advises clients on a wide range of issues relating to export and import requirements.
